Halloween Costume 2011 is COMPLETE!!!

2 days ago I finished this year's Halloween costume!!!  I learned to make button holes, pleated more than ever before, did some fabric stamping, added some embellishments, knitted a shawlette, and found some awesome socks.

Let's start from the inside and work our way out...
A slip my aunt gave me for another project will be my base and take the place of the over-the-bust bustier the pattern called for (I will wear one of corsets with the outfit). [I forgot to take off the necklace to add back on at the end, so here you see the giant piece I will be wearing.]

The skirt with all its many yards of pleating on the bottom.

The corset...

The jacket (before the fabric stamping.... still need to photograph that).

The hat, shawlette, sock, shoes.... and Ruby.

A closer view of the hat, shawlette, and necklace.

A close up of the front and buttons.

Here's all that pleating I had to do.

And the shawlette after being blocked. It's called "The Age of Brass and Steam Shawlette".

It will get its first wearing next Thursday, October 27th at Trauma - one of the largest Halloween parties of the year here in Columbus. I will have to figure out how to get a picture of me in it because they don't allow cameras at the event, only the official photographers who don't know an awesome costume when they see one and only photograph the "sexy" costumes (it was really hard not to use the word "whores" there).
